I couldn't help but admire my Indian colleague's hands. She just came back from India to celebrate Deepavali there, and she had her hands tattooed with henna. Indian ladies do that for special occassions such as weddings and festivals, and Deepavali is one of the biggest.
You know how Indians use their hands when they're talking to you? She was doing exactly that and I was just so mesmerized by the patterns I told her I had to take a picture. She eagerly placed her hands in front of my camera, and I took a shot!
She also gave me a couple of trivias about the Indian Sikh people (she's not Sikh by the way, her family belongs to the Indian elite caste) Did you know that Indian Sikh women all have the same last names? All of them are surnamed Kaur. Same with their men. All of their menfolk have the last name Singh. Both men and women are forbidden to cut their hair (including facial hair) so its common to see the ladies with waist-lenght hair and men wrapping theirs in colorful turbans.
